Angry Keyboard is a small macOS app that plays a gunshot on every key you press, in whatever app you are in. I built it because my friends kept typing on mechanical keyboards and the clacking was driving me up the wall. It is a hobby project and I think it is funny.

The sounds

Six rules, one of them a catch-all for every key without its own sound.

macOS will say it cannot verify the app

This build is signed but not notarized, because notarization needs the $99/year Apple Developer Program and this is a hobby project. So the first launch gets a Gatekeeper warning. That is expected. Here is the way through it:

macOS 15 or later

Open the app. When macOS says it cannot be verified, choose Done. Then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the AngryKeyboard message, and click Open Anyway.

Control-click the app and choose Open.

After that it asks for Input Monitoring, which it needs to hear your keys. It only listens.

1Download it and open it. It sits in the menu bar and nowhere else.
2Turn on Input Monitoring when it asks. It opens the right System Settings pane for you.
3Type anywhere. It only listens, and password fields stay silent.

Now the annoying part.

macOS will say it can't verify the app. That's expected — it's signed, just not notarized. Open it anyway, then say yes to Input Monitoring so it can hear your keys.
